We have a compiled a list of all the known issues with the game, along with a workaround to get around that problem for now, until Techland will release a patch or two. We already have a Day One launch update rolling out right now at a hefty 2.5 GB size, but the game still suffers from a number of bugs that we have listed below.

Every game launch these days is somewhat similar, where the title is riddled with bugs and issues, and then a week or two later the game is stabilized with several urgent updates. Dying Light 2 is now out for the following platforms: PlayStation, Xbox and PC, with a Switch version coming out later. You can take a look at all the known bugs and issues for Dying Light 2: Stay Human down below in the next section.

Dying Light 2 Bugs, Known Issues and Workarounds

Here is an official (and also an unofficial) list of all the Dying Light 2 known issues and bugs, revealed by Techland and the player community, as of updated on February 4, 2022:

42GB Unpacking on Steam

In case you pre-loaded the game content two days early, the Steam version of Dying Light 2 needs to decrypt itself and unpack all the files for you on your PC. Currently, the game size right now is about 42 GB, so this may take a while until it is fully unpacked and you can jump in to play the epic new game.

Once the game has fully unpacked, please restart your Steam client for the new changes to take effect.

While you wait, you might want to read through our Dying Light 2 beginner tips, how to level up faster, best graphics settings or learn the new controls.

Slow Download

This all depends on your Internet speed, and the Steam servers which are known to be extremely slow at times. So there is nothing you can do about this other than giving your wireless router a quick power cycle and see if rebooting improves the speed.

DX12 Black Screen

Make sure you have the latest Nvidia or AMD graphics drivers installed. If everything is up-to-date, well, then you will need to wait for Techland to roll out further updates.

No DualSense Support

Were you planning to play Dying Light 2 with a PlayStation 5 DualSense controller on the PC? Sadly, there is no DS support and is extremely frustrating for a number of players. Let’s wait it out and see what do the developers have to say about it.

Low FPS and Performance Issues

It has been reported that the game is struggling with low FPS and stuttering issues right now. As per the following forum post, this doesn’t look good for the game:

Im running 2070 , 9700k 16gbs ram. Stuttering very badly at 1080p with average fps of 80 with dips to 35 in the intro.

We will revert back with a fix in a few hours, so keep checking back.

Here are all the fixes for low FPS and crashing in Dying Light 2 we’ve found so far!

Cannot Rebind Mouse Keys

Users are reporting that they are unable to rebind their mouse keys in the game, we’ll be releasing a fix shortly. In the meanwhile, let’s hope for a response from the developers!

We’ve got an unofficial workaround for you right here!

Game Only Shows Controller Inputs, Not Mouse and Keyboard Bindings

If you are only seeing controllers inputs even though you have a keyboard, here’s what you need to do:

  • Go to the game’s properties
  • Disable Steam Input in the Controller Tab

Game Crashes

If you are pressing ‘Play’ right after the game has unpacked, please restart the Steam client and verify the integrity of your game files for the Dying Light 2.

As always, we’ll be providing you with complete information about the patch notes for Dying Light 2 as soon as they are released with the above fixes. 1. In the settings you can switch it from keyboard to gamepad. It never switches over. It keeps giving prompts in keyboard. Very annoying.

  2. Hopefully the dev’s are able to patch all the bugs and glitchs, and it doesn’t turn into another Cyberpunk with all the known bugs.

  3. I’m on the mission, downtown electrical substation, and I can’t progress any further because my game has glitched. Yesterday i completed the mission up to the point where I choose which faction to give power to, I was spamming x button so I didn’t see the part where it gets rid of all the loot in the area, realising this, I tried to back out of the faction menu thingy, but it wouldn’t let me, I also left the game and loaded back up, then that’s where the glitch started, I couldn’t see anything and I was stuck on a black screen with a tiny bit of the quest visible in the background, I restarted the game a number of times to try fix this, but it didn’t work, I then had the idea to join someone else’s game, this fixed the problem but now I can’t get back into the room to finish the quest, as the elevator I took to get up is stuck up there and that’s the only way up, I need help

  4. For me Sophie is completely invisible at first when she spoke her mouth didn’t move but now she’s just completely invisible

  5. Anyone know what to do when in the mission into the dark you can’t progress because it says there’s too many enemies around, but there’s none?

  6. I’ve experienced the samething, certain missions have no audio and the subtitles aren’t on the screen so i can read the dialog. The subtitles flickering in and out, no idea what is being said.

Haven’t encountered any other game breaking bugs, but I’ve read that for certain missions npc’s don’t spawn. Im sure Techland will patch Dying Light 2 and support it like the 1st game.
Haven’t looked it up online, but im sure it has a duplication glitch, and infinite money exploits. Like most open word free roam games, unfortunately it might take awhile before they get around to patching all the known bugs.

  7. I pre ordered and have the reload and legendary outfit but whoever I put it on it glitches and doesn’t work. Does anyone know how to fix ?

  8. My game is bug doesn’t let me start or finish a mission if I don’t log out and go back into the game it’s like if I have a loading screen

  9. On PS4 I’m encountering numerous glitches the worst being that the game freezes then unfreezes consistently and I have to reset the game. Also zombies stutter around the world and freeze in place, it just doesn’t seem as fluid or stable as the first title!

  10. Yesterday, I quit to the main menu, then hit continue and lost about an hour and a half of progress. Then my friend joined my game and we played for a solid 10-11 hours. I jumped on today to find out that everything my friend and I did for that whole time did not save. I’m ready to quit playing already. What’s the point of playing if it won’t save my progress? Played on both Series X and Xbox one.

  11. Every time I load into my game it says I am too far away from the mission objective. The game proceeds to start a countdown from 5 and then I get killed. I am in an infinite loop and when I try to join a freinds game I’m able to play in their game but when I go back to mine I am in the loop again. I could use some help.

  12. Im playing on series x. Its all of a sudden not lett8ng me talk to literally ANY of the npcs and thr for i cannot start any more side quests or even continue the main story. This happend after im supposed to talk to or find maya…….well i go to the 2 kids and it would NOT let me talk to them. Then ANY other npc i try to talk to it will not let me. Pisses me off. Im guessing now i will have to start a whole new game.

  13. Finished the broadcast mission and wher ready to continue
The game got caught in a loading loop and I can’t get back in game on my Xbox x

I deleted the game an ree instalede it stil caught in loading loop

  14. I’m playing on ps5 and played the 1st for hundreds of hours
But the controller layout is immensely the biggest part of what’s keeping me from enjoying the game
Healing is important resource but is now replaced with >turning 180 degrees<
Survivor sense is used every 10 seconds for some people in the dark – is now replaced with HEALING
Kicking is used all the time is now a 2 prompt action
Drop kick (remember no dedicated kick button) is now 3 prompt action suddenly
    New stuff
Drop kick parry thing is a 5 stage prompt in the span of 1 second
Parry success – jump – forward – aim and kick (remember no dedicated kick button) –
In the heat of the moment of 20 zombies or people this just isn't possible for me
This needs fixing i cant do this game anymore
I cannot just change my muscle memory for a game I played hundreds of hours so drastically
