Elden Ring: Change Controller Button Prompts to Keyboard and Mouse
The game has over 750,000 players on Steam right now and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Whether you are a veteran of the Souls series or a casual player, everyone seems to be enjoying the game. While the overall game has been successful, there seem to be tons of known issues and bugs, especially on PC.
Many PC players are reporting that they are seeing controller prompts instead of keyboard ones. This is a major problem as the keybinds are completely separate for both keyboard and controller. As you can see in the image above, the button prompt is showing “Y: OK”. However, this is a PC screenshot, and pressing Y on the keyboard does not do anything. You’ll have to press E in order to get past this message.

How to Fix This Issue?
Worry not because fixing this issue is quite simple. If you are facing this problem, we suggest that you:
- Launch Elden Ring
- Go to System Settings
- Go to the Sound and Display tab
- Set “Device for On-Screen Prompts” to “Keyboard and Mouse”
- Now, the Keyboard button prompts will replace the controller button prompts

Currently using a game controller thatbis an x box equivalent. I have some added buttons on the controller that have no apparent function in game. I would like to remap the Left Joy stick crouch movement It has cost me many lives as it discounts me while am trying to maneuver with the stick. Not sure how to remap this to a button that is not recognized in game.
