Verify Game Integrity

If problems persist after going through previous solutions, it’s most likely that some of the game’s files are missing and corrupted. For this, you should verify the game files from Steam. This will look up any such corrupted files and replace them with working ones. To verify the files, you must:

  • Open Steam and go to Library.
  • Select Lego: Star Wars from the game list on the left side.
  • Right-click and select Properties.
  • Click the Local Files tab.
  • Click the Verify integrity of game files… button.

Change The Resolution to Your Native One

Chances are that the game is trying to run at a resolution that isn’t supported by your screen. Since the game isn’t launching, you might think that there is no way of changing this. However, you can go to C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Local\LucasArts\LEGO Star Wars and open the pcconfig.txt.

Change the resolution from the txt file to your screen’s resolution. This solution has worked for many users.

Check for Game Updates

For most newly released titles, the developers fix the initial crash-related bugs with an update or two. Lego: Star Wars’ issues should be resolved this week, so make sure you always download and install game updates when they are released.

Since the game just came out, there are bound to be bugs. Luckily, Lego: Star Wars has very few bugs and even those are minor ones. Overall, the game is well optimized.

Alternatively, you can keep an eye out for new game updates in our Patch Notes section.

Update Your Graphics Card Drivers

Graphics Drivers

Before launching any newly released game, update your graphics card driver from your respective brand. The drivers are usually updated with the latest game’s optimization in check.

You can also adjust your NVIDIA Control Panel settings to find the optimal setting for your PC. This often gives your FPS a massive boost and can help you out a lot in certain situations.

For NVIDIA, you should download the latest drivers from their official website.

We suggest downloading the Radeon Auto Detect Software to get the latest driver if you have an AMD GPU.

While it might not sound like it works, having the relevant graphics driver will allow the game to run smoothly. Both AMD and NVIDIA regularly push out updates for the major game releases so make sure that you download the latest versions.

Restart Your PC

And last but not least, a solution to everything is restarting your PC. This will not only refresh the game but also refresh your entire system. If this also doesn’t work, we suggest that you contact the developers and let your concern be known to them. This will also help out other players that are facing the same issue.

To contact the devs, we suggest posting it on their forums or contacting them on Twitter.

Those are all the solutions that you can try to fix various issues. Hopefully, one of these solutions will fix your problem. Let us know if you managed to solve the problem. We would love to see if you are enjoying Lego: Star Wars or not.

  1. Haven’t experienced any crashes on PlayStation, but i know oftentimes new games crash with error (CE-34878-0) a few makeshift trouble shooting techniques I’ve used is Power Cycling, clear the cashe & cookies. Make sure no applications are suspended in the background like Netflix or Hulu. Doing a hard reset will force any suspended application to shut.

If you end up deletinh the game, be sure you also upload your save file into online storage then delete your save file. Because just deleating the game and re downloading wouldn’t do anything if the save files corrupt. If you delete the game then save file still exist on the hdd until it’s manually deleted.
Uploading your save file into online storage will clear any corrupt data, the cloud is like a defrag tool that clears any corrupt data kinda like Safe Mode Check & Rebuild Database.

    • Thank you for mentioning the possible fixes for the crash issues! They are super helpful! Also, yes, the game has been a smooth experience for me so far. However, some players did mention the crashing issues so I thought why not make a succinct guide that will potentially fix it.

      • Haven’t experienced any bugs or glitches, haven’t had any crashes (Not yet anyhow) Im not sure about trouble shooting techniques for PC, however on PlayStation most new games crash with error (CE-34878-0) until the dev’s release a patch for stability. Error (CE-34878-0) is one off the most common errors, it usually says “an error has occurred in the system software.
It’s a default message, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything other then the game crashed not the PlayStation itself.
I’ve found that not using a dynamic theme with background music helps as well, because they can cause pixel dots, frame rate drops, and screen tearing.

  2. I ended up returning my copy as this was happening on ps4. Literally did everything to try fix it and nothing worked. Uninstalled and installed several times. New disc. Ps4 rebuild. Got ps+ to save my data online and did a full initialization to reset the ps4. Downloaded and played other new games fine. Still kept crashing. Playstation couldn’t help and just submitted a report so I returned it
