Is GTA 5 Worth It On PlayStation 5?

Grand Theft Auto 5 Expanded and Enhanced just made its way to the next-gen consoles and it has divided the fandom in half. Some players are happy that the next-gen platforms are getting an enhanced version while others are not happy with Rockstar for releasing GTA V – again. If you are wondering if the game is worth it or not, this guide will answer your question about is GTA V worth it on the PS5?

GTA V was originally released in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Rockstar Games later ported it to the PS4 and Xbox One platforms. A year later, GTA V made its way to PC, and that was considered the “ultimate edition” by the fans. The mod support and fun to play online mode kept the game alive for so many years. Now, the game has arrived at the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series platforms. With that said, let’s dive in and take a look at if GTA V is worth it on the PS5 or not.

GTA 5: Is It Worth Buying on PS5?

Before we begin, let’s talk about the price of GTA V Expanded and Enhanced. The game costs $39.99 but it will cost $9.99 on PlayStation 5 (75% off), and $19.99 on Xbox Series X|S (50% off) for the first three months.

GTA V Characters

This is one of the main focuses of the initial trailer. The game will now feature “seamless character switching” and faster loading times. If you have been playing on PC, you won’t notice a difference since it is basically the same as that. However, players coming over from the PS4 or Xbox One platforms will notice a visible difference in load times and character switching.

Various Graphics Modes

Graphics Mode

Much like all the next-gen games, GTA 5 will also feature various graphics modes. You can choose the ones that you think are best. There are three main modes; Fidelity, Performance, and Performance RT mode. If you are confused about which mode you should choose, here is a detailed explanation about each mode:

  • Fidelity mode: This mode is tuned for the highest visual quality and is locked at 30 FPS. In this mode, the PS5 and Xbox Series X support native 4K resolution with ray tracing enabled.
  • Performance mode: This mode is ideal for a responsive gameplay experience and targets 60 FPS. In this mode, the PS5 and Xbox Series X support upscaled 4K resolution.
  • Performance RT mode: A mix between the Fidelity and Performance modes, supporting upscaled 4K resolution with minor ray tracing enabled and targeting 60 FPS.

Miscellaneous Features

  1. After playing the GTA trilogy and reading about it, im not sure it is. Now with GTA 6 in development, i’d assume most would probably hold off until then. I guess if your rank and everything carried over from last gen then it might be worth it. Like when GTA 5 released on PS4 your online rank carried over, because online rank and prestige isn’t stored on a hdd it’s stored on the dev’s servers.

I enjoyed the GTA 5 1p campaign, never played the online portion.
