Treyarch released this new Black Ops Cold War Update 1.09 earlier this morning on December 16 to fix “Zed 398 Swift Clover” error that was causing PC players to being able to play the new Season One Battle Pass. So we finally now have the patch notes that today’s PC update was to fix this error.
There is nothing else included with this update, as per Treyarch. This was a hotfix update for PC and PS5 users. Other small fixes may or may not be included for other platforms. From the reports, we know that Update 1.09 is live on the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles. On the PS4, this patch has a file size of 1.8GB. On the PS5, this patch version is Update 1.009.000 and file size is 3.1GB.

Initially, Treyarch announced that they are aware of this issue with PC users:
We are aware of the current “Zed 398 Swift Clover” error when attempting to play Season One content on PC, and our partners at @BeenoxTeam are actively investigating.
To keep lobbies healthy and full, crossplay has been temporarily disabled on PC while a fix is investigated.
And it another update, it was announced that a patch has been deployed and is live for everyone:
We’ve released a new update this morning to fix the “Zed 398 Swift Clover” error on PC and an occasional hitching issue on PS5.
