Curve Digital has just released this new The Ascent September 1 Update hotfix and you can read through the patch notes here. This patch doesn’t really bring any new game content or features (that many of you have been waiting for), instead it only includes a small fix. In a previous update, the developers added support for ray-tracing for the PC users, but this update wasn’t deployed properly.
The latest The Ascent September 1 Update is now available directly from Steam, so you should be able to download and install it right away. All the relevant information regarding this patch has been covered in the full notes below.
The Ascent September 1 Update Patch Notes
Here are the official patch notes for The Ascent September 1 Update that is now rolling out to all the supported platforms of the game:
- Ray tracing Turned “Off” for all players on Steam.
NOTE: This update only affects the players on Steam. Players on the Windows 10 version and Xbox do not need to worry about this patch.
We have implemented improvements related to Ray Tracing within Patch 2, deployed in Steam on August 27th. However, thanks to community feedback, we have identified that these improvements didn’t deploy correctly for all Steam players. The following Hotfix addresses this issue and will improve Ray Tracing for all players on Steam.
If you wish to play The Ascent with Ray Tracing enabled on Steam, please note you will have to re-enable it through the Graphics option in the Main Menu.
The Ascent is now out for the Xbox players and the PC via Steam and Windows Store. For a list of other game changes and updates, check out our Patch Notes section.
