Square Enix finally announced that Spider-Man will be playable in Marvel’s Avengers. Players all over the world have been patiently waiting for the chance to play as Spider-Man. With the introduction of the latest patch, there will be a new event that will be centered around Spider-Man. That is why this guide will show you how to unlock Spider-Man in Marvel’s Avengers.
However, keep in mind that this character will be exclusive to the PlayStation version of the game since Sony owns the rights for Spider-Man. Other players will be able to participate in various events but not unlock the character itself. With that said, let’s find out how to unlock Spider-Man in Marvel’s Avengers.
Unlocking Spider-Man in Marvel’s Avengers
This time around, there aren’t missions specific to Spider-Man, so you’ll have to learn Peter Parker’s story via audio logs and a few cutscenes. Don’t worry though, since there are new raids and other events that will let you earn new rewards and gear for your characters. Also, as aforementioned, Spider-Man is exclusive to PlayStation users. This is a free DLC that can be played by all PlayStation users.
Begin the With Great Power Event
The first step to unlocking Spider-Man is to start the With Great Power event. As soon as you unlock this event, you will be able to play as Spider-Man. Whether you are just picking up the game or playing since the start, you can play this event without unlocking anything prior to it. The good part is that you do not have to play through the entire campaign of Marvel’s Avengers to get to this point.
Once you start the event, you can choose Spider-Man by going to the War Table and pick the character from the Avengers Initiative. While Spider-Man doesn’t have his own missions, there are a few events that are related to him.
Spider-Man Abilties
Now that you’ve unlocked Spider-Man, let’s find out what his abilities are. In Marvel’s Avengers, Peter Parker is a young adult that is a supportive character. He is a fast-paced character that webs enemies together and stuns them. The Spider-Sense allows you to sense danger ahead of time and dodge enemy attacks easily.
Much like other Avengers, Spider-Man has three Heroic abilities as well. His first ability – the Web-Bomb – deals damage in an area that leaves the webbed status on enemies. After using this ability, you can stun all the enemies in the area once your status bar is full.
The second ability – the Spider-Drone – calls a small drone that hovers around Spider-Man and shoots webs at all nearby enemies. Players will have the option to either let the drone follow them or hold its ground at a certain location.
Finally, the ultimate ability – Wrecking Ball – creates a large ball of webs that crashes on the ground to deal damage in a large radius. This is a great ability to deal with tons of enemies that surround you.
We are excited to play as Spider-Man in Marvel’s Avengers and try out his abilities. From what we have seen so far, we can tell that this Spider-Man is completely different than the Insomniac’s version of the character. We would love to hear your thoughts regarding Spider-Man and this new update in the comments below.
