Genshin Impact is a Gacha game recently developed by and published by miHoYo. It revolves around many characters using their elemental powers to fight in a PvE environment. The game is available on many platforms including mobile, PC and PS4. The game, in general, is singleplayer, but it has some co-op elements baked in you can unlock. Today, we’re going to show you how to unlock co-op multiplayer in Genshin Impact.
The game, in general, relies on you fighting monsters to level up your characters and explore the game world. However, with the recent introduction of resources and specialized multiplayer dungeons, co-op multiplayer has become a bigger attraction.
How To Unlock Co-Op In Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact relies mainly on grinding levels and killing the same mobs and monsters while completing the main storyline quest in order to progress further in the game. These are all the steps you need to follow in order to unlock co-op in Genshin Impact.

Step 1 – Grind To Adventurer Level 16
Firstly, you must reach Level 16 to unlock the option of playing online. This can be done quite easily by completing the main storyline quest available within the game. From our playthrough of the game, we’ve found out that wandering, progressing the story and collecting Oculi will get you there the farthest. In a reasonable timeframe, it’ll take you about 10 hours to complete everything and reach the required level.

Step 2 – Make A Party!
After you’ve reached Level 16 the next very important step you need to take is making friends! Find out their unique user ID and invite them to your party. Once they accept, they’ll be allowed to join your game world!
Note: You cannot progress the main story in a co-op world.
After you’ve made your party, you can perform specific tasks and quests which you can’t do in a normal singleplayer game. Some special rules that you need to note for co-op games are:
- If a story or Archon quest is in progress, you will need to complete it in order to play online.
- If the world level of the player you want to join is higher than yours, then you will not be able to join. However, he will be able to join you in your game.
- Only the host player of the game can open the chests, collect the different Geoculus or Anemoculus, or interact with different elements.
- World drops are available for every player
- Each player must pay the amount of original resin for the energy line challenges.
Currently, there is only one particular event you can do which is unique to co-op mode. It is the Elements Crucible event.
