Activision launched one of the most awaited titles for this year – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This is a complete rework of the previous generation Modern Warfare 2 and features a new campaign and lots of new and exciting things.
Activision is notorious for launching buggy games and from the reaction of the community who just bought the game for $70, it seems like a lot of heat is coming their way. In this guide, we are going to be looking at all the bugs that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 currently has along with possible fixes to some of them.

With the release, came tons of bugs and issues that players all over the world are facing. This is an amalgamation of all the bugs, and issues along with fixes if any.
Dying Randomly on the 6th Mission (Cartel Protection)
What’s worse than dying? Dying to something and not knowing what it is.

Fix: Restarting the game will fix the bug.
Texture Quality Slowly Degrades
The game is looking kinda trashy.
they slowly downgrade in quality as you play, is it even normal, they can go down in quality even in the middle of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and never go back until you restart the game? using 3080 and 12900k, and yes the game is on SSD
This is a persistent issue and a major part of the player base is facing this issue with no fix currently in sight.
Not Respawning After Dying
Firstly, you die to bots and then you won’t respawn. The day just couldn’t get any better.
theres a bug where the game wont let me respawn after dying as it just sits on a black screen with all the background noise…
Fix: The only fix for this issue is to ALT+F4 and restart your game.
Game Stutters After Respawning
Coming back to life only to be welcomed by lag.
If I die and resume my last checkpoint, my framerate tanks for a few seconds before it gets better again. Anyone else experience this or know if there’s a particular setting maybe causing it?
Can’t connect to the servers (Hueneme Concord error)

Can’t play the campaign because of that dumb error. I started everything new (including router etc.) and this game don’t give a ♥♥♥♥. So much crap and such a waste of money
Fix: There are a few fixes that you can try to help resolve this issue.
- Restart your game
- Restart your router after 15 seconds of turning it off.
- Go to game files in your steam library. Search and delete “data0”, “data1”, “tac0”, and “tac1” file. Then start your game.
- Update your router’s firmware.
Game Crash on 11th Mission (El Sin Nombre)
SPOILER ALERT!! Skip this point if you haven’t played the game.
I dont want to spoil anything but my game crashed while entering penthouse and now it keeps crashing on exact same moment every time, cant play through campain, anyone found fix yet?
Fix: Restart the game to fix the issue.
DLSS Setting is Messed Up
Paying so much money for a game, only for it look bad.
Is anyone else having issues with the image and lighting quality when using DLSS? Textures appear blurry, lighting is poor and sharp edges can be seen throughout the sky. The game is completely unplayable like this. If I switch to FidelityFX, everything looks significantly better, however the framerate drops to 30-40fps (as opposed to getting 110-120fps with DLSS or any of the other upscalers enabled. Makes no sense to me. Running an RTX3060 and an i7-12700k 4.9GHz at 1440p for reference.
Can’t Stand On Top of The APC Tank
It’s a tank, I will stand on top of it. The game thinks otherwise.
Standing on top of the roof of the vehicle results in “***** captors got away”
Fix: Restarting the mission fixes the issue.
FPS Drop During the 1st Mission (Strike)
Lag. My biggest enemy.
Did anyone get a decent fps drop on the first mission after fighting in the helicopter? Once you and your team head into a field the frames just drop. Is it something to do with lighting?
“Time is Mission” Achievement Error
Give me my rewards, please.
I have completed the mission several times now under 4 minutes. However, the Achievment is not unlocked. I had no problems with the other missions. Is it similar to someone? Or does anyone have a solution
Game Not Launching, 18 Files Missing
Who are these files and where do I get them?
Activision fix your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cashgrab game. There is no support for bugs or crashes and this launch has been shambolic. For anyone who knows how to fix and be able to even start the name, please let me know 🙂
