Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta Bugs, Known Issues and Workarounds | PlayStation, Xbox, PC

This is a complete list of all the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta bugs and known issues you will find in the game. Most of these bugs have been acknowledged by the developers at Activision and Infinity Ward. Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 will be the next big Call of Duty titles to launch later this year and players can have a good look at the Multiplayer experience with this Open Beta.

Since this is just an early look at Call of Duty: MW2, you can expect a fair amount of bugs in the game. Twitter and discussion forums are full of issues that players have posted online. Most importantly being the ban issue which we have all discussed below. This Open Beta will help the developers iron out all these known issues and glitches before the final launch.

The current list we’ve compiled so far is a culmination of user reports alongside an official list as well. This list has been updated as of September 23, 2022. If you are going through an issue other than these, please let us know in the comments and we’ll surely add them!

Stuck on “Checking for Update”

We believe we have a temporary workaround for players stuck “Checking for Updates” on Steam. Please see below for the steps.

Step 1 – Right click MWII Beta on Steam

Step 2 – Manage

Step 3 – Browse Local FIles

Step 4 – Go to the “main” folder

Step 5 – Delete data0 and data1 as well as toc0 and 1

Another workaround for this issue is to re-install Steam. That might fix the problem. If not, you can also try moving the MW2 Open Beta to your C: drive and verify the game files. This has worked for a few players.

Last workaround you can try out is to uninstall Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Open Beta, and install it again. Verify your files and then try launching the game.

Keyboard/Controller Input

If you’re finding that you’re unable to change your input from Keyboard to Controller or vice versa you need to be in a party on your own, this’ll then allow you to change it.

Already added a phone number, not working

If you are finding yourself unable to connect to the game when clicking I already added a phone number, please take the following steps.

Step 1 – Ensure Modern Warfare II is closed

Step 2 – On your Steam Client, go to “Steam > Settings > Web Browser”

Step 3 – Click “Delete Web Browser Data

Step 4 – Launch Modern Warfare II

AMD Drivers

Hello everyone, please be aware that the Modern Warfare II Beta requires an optional AMD driver version (22.9.1) to play.

If you do not have this driver, please download it here, this may help resolve some issues you’re encountering on launching the Beta.

Do not purchase if you’ve been banned in MW2019

You will automatically be banned in this game and lose $100, which is morally wrong and I wish they could get sued over this, as getting banned will stop you from getting a refund.

You CANNOT appeal this ban with Activision, they don’t care, and never will, no matter the reason.

Game Crash Error Codes

Insane FPS Lag / Stuttering

Anyone else getting mad fps lag and stutters when in the menu and in game that’s literally unfixable? ive got 3070 and amd ryzen 5 3600, got all my drivers updated, disabled overlays etc and its still running like a potato. any suggestions for a fix or does need a patch?

Lighting is really bright

is this just me that is getting blinded by everything in this game, brightness lowering makes the game look awful too

ERROR: HUENEME – CONCORD

I had to make another post because the developer locked my previous discussion saying it was solved, but it isn’t. Still after 18 hours I haven’t played a single game. What the hell is going on? I tried everything, how do i solve this?! HELP!!!

Here are some important frequently asked questions you might have when trying to play the COD: Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta on your PC.

Why does the Store page say that the Beta opens on the 24th?

The date is referencing when we open the Beta to everyone on Steam to play, you may however have access and can start playing from September 22nd if:

– You’ve pre-ordered Modern Warfare II

OR

– You’ve redeemed an Early Access Beta code

Note: If you’ve pre-ordered Modern Warfare II, you just need to restart your Steam Client to see the Beta in your library.

I redeemed a code on Callofduty.com but haven’t got a code yet

Keep checking on the redeem code page, provided you chose Steam as your platform you should see the code at some point today
