Dying Light 2 has a massive open world filled with dangers and things to do and would require the player to be as lethal and cunning as they can be, properly upgrading your character can result in you dominating the threats of this dangerous world.
The skills available are numerous and we are here to guide you in what skills you can invest in early and make a big difference overall as some skills are dependent on the way you play the game and your progression. Let’s see what skills are available and which ones to get early.
Types of Skill Trees in Dying Light 2
In dying light 2 there are many skills at the disposal of the player to make use of when traversing the map and taking on hordes of zombies and human enemies. These skills are of 2 types, Parkour and Combat. Parkour allows the player to easily maneuver the open world and dodge the various kinds of threats coming in the way of your objective, Combat allows players to easily and sometimes creatively dispose of the enemies troubling them.
Best Combat Skills
This is the starting ability on the combat skill tree and one of the most important one at that. The player must first stagger an enemy and use this ability to jump over it and use it to land a kick on another enemy either staggering them and getting in some more melee hits or a finish them off.
There are two ways in which the player can stagger an enemy either through blocking or through this ability Perfect Dodge. Once equipped this ability allows the player to stagger an enemy if they time their dodge right. Staggering through blocking is more difficult and tedious, so this ability would sit perfectly in your arsenal.
This is a must-have ability especially when you are doing a chase and there is a tonne of zombies and you have to make your way through without resulting in a brawl. This ability will allow you to use the enemy’s movement against them and if you pair it with Grapple Throw ability you can easily throw your enemies to the side and run towards your objective. Enemies can be thrown off the building with this
This is a very powerful ability that allows the player to become a human rocket and just kick the S#$* out of your enemies. This powerful kick will launch any enemy away, which can either end them instantly or run off after performing it. As with grapple, it can be used at rooftops to throw enemies to their demise. Also if aimed right it can be used to push one enemy into another.
This mid air attack will let the player come down to the ground with intense force staggering every enemy in the vicinity. This can be used to take down or target groups of enemies or certain powerful enemies. With the enemies staggered the player can unleash themselves on a target enemy or can just bolt out of the situation if need be.
The first stealth ability in this list. Though it requires a knife beforehand it can be a very useful ability as it can dispose off unalerted enemies in a single swipe. This can be especially helpful when infiltrating group of either zombies or humans when you just need to get the thing they are guarding without exhausting yourself with a massive fight.
Building upon the previous Skill, this will allow the player to take down two enemies at once without breaking your stealth. The player just throws the knife after killing the enemy with Stab, again a knife is necessary for this ability.
Best Parkour Skills
This ability will let the players reach higher when jumping and will be a default ability to get. Higher reach will allow for quick traversal and escapes.
This ability will let the player not be worried about the jumps they are about to make. By pressing the mentioned button before the landing the player will do a barrel roll on the ground with sustaining much damage. This can be extremely helpful when running from a chase.
This can be a life saver ability where players can grab on to ledges when falling from great heights and climb regardless whether your stamina is depleted. Another ability which will come in hand when you just make that leap of faith from a building running from a horde of enemies.
This is just a quality of life ability where you can just travel up and sides ways more quickly.
Another ability that compliments the last one where this one allows the player to skip the tedious climbing animation to just jump to the next ledge. Especially helpful when climbing huge buildings.
When you see that little bump in your way and are scared that it may slow you down this ability will take that bump and use it as a diving board to push your jumps even further. This is great when jumping from rooftop to rooftop.
This ability will allow you to move past those small openings you see while running and previously unable to traverse. This can help in dodging zombies and just makes you an unstoppable force.
Complimentary to the last ability this will allow players to catapult themselves from a slide without losing momentum, great for keeping the flow of traversal and using the surrounding to your advantage.
This will let the player run as long as their stamina last which is basically running even faster and for a longer time. Great for getting out of chases.
Dart gives a temporary boost to movement speed which can make players jump greater distances, reach higher ledges or stay longer on the wall while wall running.
This is a complimentary skill where after performing certain parkour moves the player can boost instantly after it. Abilities like slide jump can be further enhanced using this.
For the stealthy players out there this ability will allow for greater speed when sneaking around with a bonus of Crouch Jump.
This will let the player become Juggernaut from X-Men so to speak. No amount of zombies and humans would be able to slow you down with this ability at your side.
Using the previous Dart/Dash ability at an enemy the player will be able to spring board from them to higher ledges, amazing when making your way around the map and not be hindered.
Vertical Surfaces can be used to run on just like Titanfall.
Tic Tac is required for this ability and this will allow you to run upwards to reach higher ledges with requiring to stop and look for other traversing option.
Dying Light 2 lets the player live their parkour fantasy and nothing can stop the player given they have invested in the appropriate abilities. That being said Dying light 2 is not about just running and you can Fast Travel as well.
