Call of Duty: Mobile is all set to bring 120 FPS support soon to the game for a much smoother game play. This news just came in yesterday at the launch of a new Sony Android phone by Chris Plummer, VP of Mobile at Activision. This new phone, Sony Xperia 5 II, will be Sony’s first Android phone that has a screen refresh rate of 120Hz, so they partnered up with Activision to announce the upcoming COD Mobile update.
Plummer confirmed that this mode is only going to be available for the Multiplayer modes, so all you waiting to get 120FPS in the Battle Royale mode will have to wait out a bit.
I’m excited to share with you that Call of Duty Mobile will be compatible the 120Hz display for an enhanced gameplay experience. This exciting new gameplay experience at 120Hz is featured in Call of Duty Mobile’s multiplayer mode and has been finely tuned in collaboration with Sony Mobile in its new Xperia device,Chris Plummer, VP of Mobile at Activision
So, yes. This is happening and we are super excited for it. Faster refresh rates have always been a thing for PC gamers, but we are glad to mobile games also catching up on that trend. It is really helpful with fast FPS games like the Call of Duty: Mobile where you do not want to miss an opponent while exploring around the game.
The 120 FPS support for COD Mobile is not exclusive to the Sony Xperia 5 II, there are plenty of other phones in the market that will support this higher refresh rate i.e. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S20, OnePlus 8 Pro etc.
Just earlier this month, PUBG Mobile also received an update that added support for 90Hz refresh rate. This update was first exclusively available for OnePlus devices, but it was then later released for other phones as well.
