Or all those stats boosting and item purchasing and weapon upgrading getting on your nerves? Then you need Runes and lots of it. Luckily we have found the perfect spot to farm Runes in Elden Ring.

Though it is recommended that you play the game as it was intended the first time, if you are going for a new game+ or a build-specific playthrough and just need Runes then we have you covered right here. And for builds check out our Warrior Mage build.

Update: This guide has been updated to include the new balance changes from Elden Ring Patch 1.04. You can see through the new updates below.

Rune Farm – Access

This farming location needs to be accessed through a little bit of effort at first. The location is called Mohgwyn Palace, you can reach this place in several ways. Either you find a teleporter that’s very late in the game or you can follow along an NPC’s quest, found early on, to get the way in.

The NPC is none other than the jerk White-Faced Varre, the one who makes fun of your maidenless existence at the start of the game. At first, you meet him just exhaust all his condescending dialogues and continue (don’t kill him I know you want to), nothing noteworthy at the start.

The second time you meet him in Liurnia of the Lakes region after you have defeated Godrick the Grafted. He will have moved to the Rose Church within the central area of the region, check the picture below for the exact location.

Talk to him this time and he will show some doubts about the whole Roundtable hold scenario, select the “Two Fingers seemed off” option and he will trust you and give you 5 Festering Bloody Fingers and encourage you to use it and then meet him again. This item lets you invade other players’ worlds and do some PVP. You just have to invade 3 times in total regardless of winning the fight and approach him afterward.

Talking to him this time will grant you another item Lord of Blood’s Favor and you have to pledge your allegiance to him. This item or quest requires you to soak this in a maiden’s blood. The nearest maiden’s body is in the Church of Inhibitions in the Liurnia region, marked in the picture below. Just visit the body and interact with it having this item in inventory. Return to Varre with the now bloody favor and talk to him where he will give you a Pureblood Knight’s Medal.

Rune Farm – Location

Using this item will teleport you to the Mohgwyn Palace. Though it sounds tedious it’s the earliest you can reach this place and it has the best farming location in-game. Make your way through the location, mind you this area is for advanced levels so be careful or run for it. Reach the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint grace site. Just after this site is the farmable spot so you can repeat the process quite easily.

There are a total of 8 enemies here, the bottom 7 are easy and can be taken out align them and use any ability that goes through enemies, each one of them will reward around 2400 Runes, meanwhile killing the enemy on top of the stairs rewards 7700 Runes. The total of this killing spree will grant you more than 24000 Runes and if use a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot then 30% more will be rewarded, repeat this process to your heart’s content.

This location has been beneficial for low-level players and you just need to be careful not to let these enemies come close to you as they can one-shot you sometimes this early on. What location are you using to farm Runes? Comment below and let us know.
