Day 1 results are in for the Garena Qualifiers of the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2020. We are already done with other regions i.e. Vietnam Korea, Japan, Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America. Stage 4 results are also out for the global regional matches, and now we have South East Asia and Taiwan (also known as Garena region) to look forward to.
The top teams from the South East Asia and Taiwan regions will be going head to head with each other from 28th September to 4th October 2020. Game Modes and Maps
- Hardpoint: Crash, Crossfire, Standoff, Summit
- Domination: Firing Range, Meltdown, Standoff
- Search & Destroy: Crossfire, Firing Range, Meltdown, Standoff
Tournament Format
Unlike Japan, Eastern Europe, Asia and LATAM, the format of Garena Qualifiers is group stage round robin. 6 teams will compete for a spot in top 4 in order to play the playoffs, which will be a single elimination best-of-five series.
Teams Invited
Following teams were invited on the basis of winning their National Championships:
- Daivo.FreeSlot (Champion of Ultimate Warfare: Thailand)
- DG Esports (Champion of Major Series: Indonesia)
- FunPlus Phoenix (Champion of Summer Championship: Taiwan)
Following teams were invited as they were the Champions of each National Showdown in ESL MSP Championship
- Resurgence (Winners of ESL MSP Championship – Malaysia Showdown)
- NRX Jeremiah 29:11 (Winners of ESL MSP Championship – Philippines Showdown)
- Divinity.Uprising (Winners of ESL MSP Championship – Singapore Showdown)
Day 1 Match Results And Points Table
To begin with, the first match was between Daivo.Freeslot and FunPlus Phoenix. Daivo.FS won all three maps to complete a clean-sweep over FPX, in what turned out to be a one sided affair.
Second match was between one of the favorites, that is Divinity Uprising and Resurgence. The first two maps were easily won by DVT but Resurgence made the comeback in the last Domination match to reduce the damage.
Third and last match of the day saw DG Esports going up against NRX 29:11. Likewise in the first match, we witnessed another clean-sweep, as DG Esports won the hardpoint, SnD and Domination map, winning 3-nil to start their campaign.
