Shiny Pokémon are a prized possession in any of the Pokémon games and require a lot of random hunting and frustrated repetitive actions to be able to find a single Shiny Pokemon. There are ways through which these chances can be increased so let’s find them out.
What are Shiny Pokémon
A Shiny Pokémon actually is a very rare variant of a particular Pokémon species that has a different coloration than other Pokémon of that species a fun thing about Shiny Pokémon within the Pokémon games is that they also have a unique shiny animation when they come out of their pokeball that gives them a little bit more prestige to owning one.

The normal rate of finding a Shiny Pokémon is about 1 out of 4096, you would have to be pretty lucky to find one, resulting in their rare and sought after status. These odds are without and modifier or special measures.
However there are ways you can expand your chances, mentioned below:
Increase your Research Level
The first thing that you can do, which you will end up doing automatically for a lot of Pokémon as you play through the game anyway, is to get research level 10 for that specific Pokémon. This will double your chances of a Shiny, once researched the chances of find one will drop from 1 in 4000 to 1 in 2000, which is still very very rare but is literally twice as good. So if you do plan to get a specific Pokémon as a shiny make sure to get research level 10 for that specific Pokémon first.
Reach Perfect Research Level
The next thing you can do is actually do all of the tasks to get perfect research for that particular Pokémon species and that will double your chances up again so you will go from that roughly 1 in 2000 chance with the level 10 research bonus to a 1 in 1000 chance with that perfect research level bonus.
Get the Shiny Charm
Just like Pokémon games of the past, you can get the shiny charm that will boost your chances, and get that you will need to get a research rank of 10 for every Pokémon in the Pokedex all 242. This is going to be quite a time sync so this is more of a completionist style activity it will further your chances at getting a shiny Pokémon but again the time investment is going to be quite high.
Mass Outbreak Events
The mass outbreaks of course are randomly appearing events that you can go to and find a cluster spawn of a particular type of Pokémon and if you want to collect Shiny we recommend going to every outbreak that you find on your map simply because the chances for a Shiny within a mass outbreak are substantially higher than pretty much anywhere else in the game. There is a close to 1 in 158 chance to get a shiny at a mass outbreak and that’s before calculating the bonus for the level 10 research the perfect research or the shiny charm bonus.
Like every Pokémon game if you want to get a shiny Pokémon there is a huge random chance and odds and it will take time and repetition to get one but if you stay adamant and pay attention to those mass outbreaks you’re going to increase your chances to find the shiny Pokémon that you’re chasing. Just be Patient!
