Humankind Known Issues | PC, Google Stadia

Amplitude Studios released their latest Humankind game earlier today, and with the day one release comes several known issues and problems. The developers have openly said to report back any bugs players encounter if proper steps to reproduce. And for the list of already known bugs and problems, we have compiled the entire list below.

Humankind is a historical strategy game where you will re-write the entire narrative of humankind. You will be able to create a civilization just the way you want it to be. There are several bugs carried over from the OpenDev and Closed Beta periods.

Humankind Known Issues and Workarounds

Here is an official list of all the Humankind known issues, revealed by Amplitude Studios, as of updated on August 17, 2021:

NOTE: You should always make sure you have the latest Humankind update installed.

Delete Old Saved Files from OpenDev

Important Note: If you have participated in any of the OpenDev scenarios or the Closed Beta, retaining old files may cause unexpected behavior. Please delete your Humankind folder in \Users\[username]\Documents\Humankind\ before starting the game. Remember to log back in to your Games2Gether account in the game to access any additional avatars you have unlocked.

Miscellaneous Issues and Workarounds

  • When performing actions in battle, there can rarely be a long hangtime.
    Workaround: Reload a save.
  • Very rarely, there can be a long hangtime between turns.
    Workaround: Reload a save.
  • To declare war tooltip may say you need 0 War Support where you actually need 80 (you can still declare war normally, just the info on the tooltip is wrong)
Workaround: Check if your war support is above 80 and just declare war.
  • If you start a battle a few tiles away from a city, the city queue may not be available, or it may show as an infinite time to completion. The queue becomes available again once battle is over, though you may need to go to the next turn.
Workaround: Finish the battle. If the infinite timer persists, reload a save.
  • Some information in the Encyclopedia may not be complete yet. The developers will be working to improve the Encyclopedia’s contents.

Mac Missing Executables

The Mac version of the game has been delayed a few weeks. As such you will get a missing executable error until the Mac version is released

Disable Epic Overlay

Some reports have come in that the Epic overlay may interfere with the game.

  • Try disabling the Epic overlay
  • Uninstalling the epic client should be a last resort

Laptop users should force their Nvidia/AMD cards

Use the Nvidia Control Panel or AMD CCC to force the game to use your built in GPU instead of the Intel one

Try running both Steam and Humankind.exe as administrator

  • Go to c:\program files\steam\
  • Right click ->Properties on steam.exe
  • Click the Compatibility tab
  • Check “Run this program as an administrator

Then try doing it for the Humankind exe

  • Go to c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\Humankind
  • Right click ->Properties on Humankind.exe
  • Click the Compatibility tab
  • Check “Run this program as an administrator

Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache

If you have tried all of these workarounds, and are still having trouble running the game, or if there are other obvious missing elements to the game (such as missing fonts), validate that all of the files are actually installed properly:

  • Go to your Steam Library
  • Right click -> Properties on HUMANKIND
  • Click the “Local Files” tab
  • Click on the “Verify Integrity of Game Cache…” button
