How to Beat Godskin Duo in Elden Ring | Godskin Apostle and Godskin Noble (Boss Fight Walkthrough)

Elden Ring features a lot of bosses that you can fight on your journey to becoming the Elden Lord. One such boss – or bosses I should say – is extremely difficult and can take a lot of tries to defeat. If you haven’t guessed it yet, I am talking about the Godskin Duo (Godskin Apostle and Godskin Noble). While you face each one individually before this moment, they are extremely difficult when together.

If you’re having trouble beating the duo, worry not because you’re not alone. It took me more tries than I would care to admit. However, after trying so many times, their pattern and attacks are engraved in my mind now. With that said, let’s dive right in and take a look at how to beat the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring. If interested, you should also read through our extensive Elden Ring tier lists and build guides.

As aforementioned, we will show you how you can beat this boss without any problem and how you have to get to them. Plus, we’ll be discussing the optimal level that your character should have before you go to fight them. Also, keep in mind that, unlike the Starscourge Radahn boss fight, they are not optional. You have to defeat them to progress the story.

But, before we begin, let’s take a brief look at the backstory and lore of these nightmarish creatures so that we are familiar with what we are up against.

Where to Find Them?

To find them, you must progress through the story and reach the  Crumbling Farum Azula after defeating the Fire Giant. From here, you have to make your way to the Dragon Temple and trigger the boss fight by approaching the short stair at the end of the great hall.

Reaching them should not be a problem since the path is somewhat linear. However, getting to the Crumbling Farum Azula is a challenging task that will require a lot of skill. You will have to defeat many bosses along the way.

Be careful when making your way to the boss room because there are strong enemies in this area. This location is considered an end-game location so you will have to be extremely cautious and have good stats and equipment. Plus, you also should be at least level 100+ in my experience. Otherwise, you’ll have a tough time ahead.

The closest Grace Site from this location is the Dragon Temple Transept which can make it a little easier to get back here only to die and try again. Also, the Crumbling Farum Azula isn’t the host to only one hardest boss in Elden Ring. Malekith also resides here but we’ll talk about him later.

Tips to Beat the Godskin Duo

The duo consists of the Godskin Noble and the Godskin Apostle – both enemies that you have faced before separately. They have the exact same abilities and act the same way but there is one major difference. There are two of them and both of them are extremely aggressive.

Usually, gank fights in FromSoftware games are balanced with one enemy slow and the other fast – looking at you Ornstein and Smough! However, both members of this duo are fast and will constantly stay with each other. This makes it difficult to find a good opportunity to attack them.

Now that I’ve ranted about the bad design of this fight, let’s find out how you can defeat them. First of all, make good use of the pillars in the room as they will be your best defense. Secondly, I suggest summoning the Mimic Tear to even out the odds and fight two-on-two.

However, keep in mind that the duo shares the HP bar and it can take a long time to defeat them. The worst part is that after you kill one, he will respawn after 15 seconds. Theoretically, you have to kill them about three and a half times to defeat them and deplete their HP completely.

Use the pillars to separate them and attack one at a time. However, do not get greedy as the risk is greater than the rewards. You will have to be extremely patient with this fight and find good moments to strike.

This duo is weak to Slash, Hemorrhage, Frostbite, and Sleep damage. Using the Rivers of Blood weapon art will help you out a lot. Plus, we suggest using a slashing weapon to deal additional damage. Once you kill one of the bosses, use everything on the other and damage it as much as you can within the 15 seconds or you will lose your chance to do a one-on-one fight.

Keep at it and eventually, you’ll defeat them and come out as the victor! I know most of the tips to beat them is to “Be patient and land a few attacks before running around the pillars.” However, after trying multiple times, this was the best strategy for me.

Rewards

After finally beating these rage-inducing creatures, you will be rewarded with 170000 Runes, a Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing level 4, and Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado. The rewards are generous but nothing compared to the satisfaction of finally beating the horrendous duo.

Plus, you can finally progress to the next area and fight Malekith – who is a difficult boss as well, but we will discuss him in a later guide.
