PUBG Lite launched in beta in January 2019. The game then met tons of success later throughout the year as it slowly paved its way across Europe in October. The game then ditched its in-game currency system and went free-to-play. However, it seems like all efforts were in vain as the game is now shutting down. Here’s what the developers had to say about the game:

We are deeply grateful for the passion and support from the astounding number of PUBG LITE fans that have been with us. During the strenuous of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that PUBG LITE was able to provide our fans a fun way to stay safe.

Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to close service after much deliberation and the time has come for our journey to end. We regretfully inform you that service of PUBG LITE is scheduled to end on April 29th, 2021.

Ultimately, this marks the end of an era. PUBG LITE was a fan-favorite, especially for those who could not run the original game on their computers. We’re hoping that the developers now spend more time optimizing the PC version of PUBG so no one misses out on the fun.
