What is Battle Pass, Premium Pass, Premium Pass Plus in COD Mobile

Call of Duty: Mobile features a tier based rewards system each new season for new content that allows you to buy Battle Pass or a Premium Pass in the game. This is how COD Mobile delivers new content in the form of weapon XP cards, character skins, new guns and other items. If you have just started out playing CODM and are confused between the types of passes available in the game, you have come to the right place.

Previously, this tier based system was only related to certain tasks and challenges that you had to complete each season in order to progress up your tier level. As you go up each tier, you unlock something new. This all changed with Season 6 (2020) when the team decided to abolish the challenges / tasks criteria and instead you level up as you play more matches and gain experience points (XP Points).

If you visit the Battle Pass section in COD Mobile, you will notice there are three different types of passes to choose from. Let us explain each of them in detail and how they are different from each other.

Battle Pass

This is the regular free rewards stream that is available for every Call of Duty: Mobile player. Anyone with a COD Mobile profile has immediate access to this rewards system where the player can unlock new weapons, skins and weapon attachments, credits etc. as you play more Multiplayer and Battle Royale matches.

At the end of every match, you will notice you gain experience points based on your performance or you also gain points by completing daily and weekly tasks. These points add up to increase your tier level in the Battle Pass, hence unlocking the rewards. You can go up till 50 free tier levels. And one thing to note here is that not every tier level in the Battle Pass comes with a reward.

All the ‘Free’ rewards are clearly labeled under each item image.

Premium Pass

If the collection of free rewards in Battle Pass is not enough and you want to unlock a more premium collection, then you need to buy the Premium Pass.

This Premium Pass will instantly give you access to all the premium rewards in the tier rewards stream that were not accessible before with just the free Battle Pass. Each item in the premium tier is colour coded i.e. blue or purple. These colours represent how common or rare a certain item is. We will get more in detail with these item types in another article soon.

Previously, the Premium Pass would also unlock the Elite Tasks which would unlock even more items, but this was also removed after the Season 6 update.

Premium Pass Plus / Battle Pass Advantage

COD Mobile Premium Pass Plus

Do you want to level up the tiers much faster and instantly unlock all the new skins and many of the premium items? Then you should buy the Premium Pass Plus or the Battle Pass Advantage for your account. You are expected to unlock 12,000 COD Points worth of new content when you get this pass.

This plus pass costs much higher than the standard Premium Pass, but you instantly skip 12 tiers and get all the rewards from those skipped tiers. And you are confirmed to unlock at least two new characters among other items like a fully loaded weapon with Gunsmith attachments.

Conclusion

To conclude and summarize the differences, it all comes down to how quickly you want to progress up the Battle Pass tiers and unlock new items. If you want to buy the Premium Battle Pass for more rewards, you will have to play more in order to get all the items of the season; and each new season lasts for about 30 days.

Season 8 2022 has just started in Call of Duty: Mobile, so this is the perfect time to buy a Premium Pass if you have been planning to get one.
