Genshin Impact has had quite a thrilling couple of months and is set to bring back more excitement with its upcoming Update 2.2. The game previously captivated its fans with its 2.0 and 2.1 updates filled with new characters, quests, and festivals.
The upcoming Genshin Impact 2.2 update is reportedly packed with new characters, regions, monsters, and much more. With the game reaching its one-year anniversary, the developers have also promised a ton of freebies this time around.
Genshin Impact 2.2 Upcoming Features
Along with upcoming features and content, the developers have also confirmed the release date for this Genshin Impact 2.2 update:
Release Date: The update is set to release on October 13, 2021.
New Character
Thoma, a “fixer” who made his debut in the Inazuma storyline, will be joining as a new four-star playable character. Wielding a polearm as his weapon, he provides the team with a strong defence and multiple buffs.
New Region Unlocked
Inazuma will also be getting its final major island unlocked in the form of Tsurumi Island. The highlight of this region is the dense fog in the region, as well as the new enemies that apply a corrosion effect. When an attack hits a character, all party members will be affected by the “Corrosion” status and continually lose HP regardless if they’re shielded or not.
New Enemies
The game is also adding new enemies with the names of Rifthound and Whelp. These creatures will be found in Tsurumi trying to sneak an attack on the player using stealth. There appear to be two-element types of Rifthounds: Geo and Electro.
Event Wish Banners
The upcoming character banner after Kokomi is for Childe (along with 3 other four-star characters), followed by a banner featuring Hu Tao, Thoma, and two others.
Challenges and Mini Games
There will be a “Labyrinth Warriors” event in which players can venture into a mystic domain in Inazuma with “Childe” (who will be making a return), and Xinyan (Liyue’s rock ‘n’ roll musician). You will also be accompanied by a paper figure named “Shiki Taishou” who will provide you with special buffs.
A second seasonal event “Tuned to the World’s Sounds” will also be taking place in which players can enjoy the rhythm game and play different styles of music.
