Game sizes nowadays are reaching astronomical heights and the COD franchise is notorious for pushing the boundaries… in terms of gigabytes of course. However, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s game file size has just been leaked and we’re pleasantly surprised, to say the least. But, we still can’t be sure if this particular file size is going to remain the same after the plethora of patches that will be hitting the game in a short few days of its release.
As of yet, developers are not putting in a lot of effort to save some storage on the PS5’s precious high-speed SSDs. However, with community backlash now ripe, developers have had to optimize games to ensure they were coming in at a reasonable size.
COD Vanguard PS5 Game File Size
Surprisingly, it seems like Call of Duty: Vanguard on the PS5 will be coming in at 37.519 GB without a Day One Patch with pre-loads for the game set up for October 29. Campaign 1 will be coming in at 9.458 GB and Campaign 2 at 6.818 GB.
This indicates that the initial download of the game is relatively small in size, which is quite different from how COD releases generally go. However, there still might be some changes in size depending on which edition you end up pre-ordering.
However, don’t celebrate just yet, this file size has been confirmed to be prior to a Day One Patch which is certainly going to add a few GBs to the game’s release. But, we can confidently say that it won’t go to the whopping 100+ GB number that we are used to.
It seems like, with the addition of high-speed SSDs on the PS5, the developers are finally ensuring that the game actually is able to fit on these storage devices and therefore deliver the best performance.
